Simplicity...

Planning a wedding can be stressful and taking on the job yourself can be rather taxing.  Most brides want to plan everything and do everything themselves with little help from others.  This can cause moments of dispair and actually cause you to not enjoy your wedding day.  Enlisting the help of those that offer help is a godsend and should be taken advantage of.  Leave the small details to others, your main focus should be walking down the aisle. To help ease the stress of planning here are some helpful hints to ease stress:

1.  Chill out. Don't get upset if some things aren't going the way you hoped. This is par for the course.

2.  Be very selective when choosing the people you spend time with both prior to and on your wedding day.

3.  Get some quiet time. Be assertive and let others know, as politely as possible, that you need to be alone for a little while.

4.  Let others help you. It's easy to blow your circumstances out of proportion, if you try to handle everything by yourself.

5.  Focus on what the day is truly about.  You, your honey and the joining of your lives together.

6.  Keep a humorous outlook. If you don't have a sense of humor about anything, then you really don't have anything at all.

7.  Think about the day after the wedding. There is nothing that makes this all worth it than the thought of a brand new life...  Together

Healthy Living...

Incorporating your healthy lifestyle in to your wedding reception can be a bit challenging.  While many people today have opted to eat a more healthy diet, there are some out there who still haven't gotten on the right track.  When planning your wedding menu you'll want to incorporate foods that are not only healthy but will also be a hit for those who still love their meat and potatoes.  In today's society weddings are an excuse to splurge, but adding a few items to your menu that are heart and health happy is a lot easier than you think.  Shop around, sample menus and don't forget to ask how things are made and what with.

First thing to consider would be the hors d' oeuvres, while cheese, crackers and deli meats are still a staple at many weddings, including an exotic fruit platter and veggie crudites would be one way of incorporating healthy foods in to your menu.  They're budget friendly and almost ALWAYS a hit with your guests.  Second thing to consider, and the most important, would be the main meal.  Having a wide selection of meats and vegetables is ideal, but it's not always the most cost effective. For those on a tight budget roasted chicken is always a good choice as well as any lean fish.  You should also consider having at least 2-3 different vegetables sides to choose from, make sure that one of the vegetable sides is steamed and if you can get them to use organic all the better.  In the end, you'll want to choose items that are good for you and delicious and will leave your guests full and happy.

Weekend Getaway...

It seems that weekend weddings are becoming more and more popular and many couples are opting to have their weddings out of town.  Having an out of town wedding requires more thought and planning so if you're up for the challenge here are some things to consider:

Guest List:
Weekend weddings are best reserved for smaller weddings where only family and close friends are invited, so you will have to plan your guest list accordingly.

Location:
Choosing a location is probably the hardest part.  Keep in mind that not everyone will be able to attend.  Now, while you shouldn't sacrifice your choice of location for your guests you'll want to be able to at least choose a place where those that simply have to attend can afford to go.

Itinerary:
Weekend weddings mean more planning.  So you'll want to have a list of fun things to do and sites to see at your location for your guests to enjoy before and after your day.  Typing up a list of the many sites in town and leaving it in their rooms is always a good idea and leaves it open for your guests to decide how to entertain themselves.  If you have planned outings for your guest be sure to have a weekend itinerary included in your wedding invitation so guests can plan accordingly.

Boarding:
Out of town weddings mean out of town accomodations.  Shop around at local inns and hotels for the best prices.  You'll find that many places are willing to give discounts if your willing to reserve a certain amount of rooms.  This doesn't mean that you have to stay at the local 8 motel, but it does mean finding a place that is not only cost effective to your guests, but also a pleasant place to stay.
