A Little Touch of Vintage...

Planning a vintage wedding is always fun and depending on what era you base your wedding theme on little touches of vintage flair here and there is always a sure way to bring your guests back in time.  Some interesting ideas would be to give small retro gumball dispensers away as favors.  Not only are they cute, but they're unique and sure to be a hit with your younger guests.  Another idea would be to raid your local flea market for vintage hankies and have them on display in a basket at your ceremony for guests to grab...  After all, everyone cries at weddings.  If you're planning a winter wedding you could give away vintage Christmas ornaments that can also be found at your local flea market.  Any way you add your own touches, vintage is about nostalgia so have fun with it and make it memorable.
iPod vs. DJ...

When planning the entertainment for your wedding, the biggest question is whether to hire a DJ or make your own playlist.  For those on a tight budget making your own playlist at your wedding is always a safe way to curb the budget and it makes it more intimate and fun, especially for smaller weddings.  You can play songs that have special meaning to you and your honey, and to add an even more personal touch you can even make CD's of the songs you played to give out to your guests as favors.

If you decide to go with a DJ shop around for the best prices, or see if a friend, who is a DJ, is willing to call in a favor.  DJ's tend to take control of the entertainment, which can relieve some stress off of you, and get people out on the dance floor and participate in the festivities.  It's important to talk with the DJ about what songs you would like played and what songs you don't.  Make a special point to let him or her know what you're looking for and what kind of mood you would like to set the reception to-when are the good times to start the dancing music and what kind of music should be played during dinner, etc..  Whichever one you decide on don't be afraid to play or suggest what you want, it is, after all, your wedding and setting the right ambiance is key.
