Beating the Summer Heat

Having a summer wedding is always a good idea, but figuring out a way to keep guests cool during your wedding is quite another idea.  If you're lucky enough to have a canopy or tent to provide shade for your guests, providing cooling devices won't be necessary.  However, if you do not here are some suggestions to help keep guests cool at your wedding and also add a nice touch to the decor.

Parasols:
You could provide rice paper parasols to your guests as favors.  They're eco-friendly, simple and classy.  Pamelas Parasols is a good website to check out for such favors.  They offer a wide variety of styles to choose from and can also custon make parasols to fit the theme of your wedding.

Gaslamp Quarter | Bachelorette Party Musts

As the Maid of Honor, planning the Bachelorette party is one of the main responsibilties you will have leading up to the wedding.  The Bachelorette party is tradition and is the bride's last hoorah as a single woman, with San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter as your playground you are bound to have a good time.  Here are a few tips to help ensure that the bride goes out in San Diego style:

Transportation:
It is a good idea to hire a limo or limo bus to shuttle you around during the night's festivities.  Not only is it a good way to avoid drinking and driving, but it will keep the party together when bar-hopping and avoids the headache of finding parking.  Make sure to pick a designated spot to meet where the limo/bus can pick you up and don't forget to remind everyone of the time to be there.  Suggesting guests arrive at least 30 min to an hour early is a good idea.  This will ensure that no one misses the bus when it's time to head out.

Dinner/Drinks:
When picking a place for dinner, call the restaurant ahead of time to see if they take reservations and can accomodate your party.  Many restaurants in the Gaslamp do take reservations, so you should have no problem reserving a table.  Let them know that it's for a Bachelorette party so that they can accomodate you accordingly...  You don't want to show up and be seated next to a family of five out to a nice dinner in the Gaslamp.

After dinner you will more than likely want to hit the town.  With cover charges being rather high, many clubs downtown will offer a no-cover if you call ahead to tell them that a Bachelorette party will be taking place at their venue, or if you arrive early.  If you've decided to reserve a room in one of the hotels downtown for the night the concierge can usually help you out with this by calling the club ahead of time and putting you on the guest list.  Either being prepared is key.

To Strip or Not to Strip?:
Hiring a male stripper is entirely up to the discretion of the bride and is in no way a must for a Bachelorette party.  If you do decide to include a stripper in the night's intinerary having the stripper show up before you head out is a probably your best bet.  After dinner and bar-hopping many guests may be too tired to fully appreciate what a male stripper can offer.  If your party is a bunch of night owls, then ending the night with a little stripping fun may be just the perfect way to send the bride off in to marital bliss.  Either way, make sure to talk to the bride before you go ahead and hire a male stripper...  She may not be as in to you as you might be.

Have Fun:
In the end the Bachelorette party is a celebration for your friend.  So, no matter where you go or what you do the important thing is to make sure the bride says goodbye to her singlehood in style and that she's surrounded by good friends who love her.
